Burnley’s Danny Ings consoles Queens Park Rangers’ Charlie Austin after their teams got relegated from the Premier league. It was a cruel blow for Burnley whose away win against Hull yesterday wasn’t enough to escape their doomed fate.
QPR knew they would have to win all of their remaining matches to have a chance of staying up, but the challenge of defeating Manchester City at the Etihad stadium was too great. After 90 minutes of carnage, they limped out of the Premier League at the raw end of a 6-0 defeat.
So while Burnley and QPR wait to see who will be joining them playing in the Championship, it’s unlikely that we won’t be seeing Danny and Charlie still playing in the Premier League next season. As to what colour shirts they’ll be wearing, it’s anybody’s guess. We’ll have to wait for the transfer window to open to find out.
