Tigers Strike – Reds’ Hopes Dashed by Dawson

Michael dawson, Hull Tigers, Hull v Liverpool,

Michael Dawson’s first goal since 2013 was enough to defeat Liverpool and claim the vital three points for the Tigers. While the win lifts Hull four points above the relegation zone, losing at the KC stadium will have seriously dented Liverpool’s hopes for a top four finish and eligibility for the Champions League.

Brendan Rodgers’ side looked bereft of energy and motivation. Steven Gerrard was sidelined for the match, and players like Raheem Sterling and Mario Balotelli made very little impact on the game.

As the final whistle blew there couldn’t have been more of a difference in mood from the two managers. Steve Bruce commented “To get back-to-back victories at this stage is crucial but we still need a couple of results,” Brendan Rodgers will now be up against Tottenham Hotspur fighting for a place in the Europa League, but after last night’s performance, it’ll be interesting to see whether he can rejuvenate a side looking short on ideas of which he had to admit, “We never really looked like scoring a goal to be honest.”
