A win for Brazil, but at what cost?

Last night’s quarter final between Colombia and the host nation in Fortaleza, was an end to end affair of exciting, if chaotic, free-flowing football – a far cry from the clinical play which saw Germany defeat France earlier in the day. However, the match was littered with fouls and often dangerous tackles, in front of an oblivious Referee. Colombian wonderboy James Rodriguez was at the receiving end of most of it, but it was a knee in Neymar’s back from Juan Camilo Zúñiga towards the end of the match that has soured Brazil’s 2:1 win over Colombia; the injury ruling him out of the rest of the tournament. The Colombians were inconsolable at the end of the match, but there were tender scenes as Brazilian players offered comfort.
